This guide explains connector compatibility between the legacy Mini Mobile Module (M3, 6-pin/2×3 header) and the Mini Mobile Module EVO (M3E, 8-pin/2×4 header). Both transmitter generations support TriggerSync (remote-triggered readings); M3E additionally supports GageSync (two-way gage communication for metadata such as serial number and calibration date), which requires the two additional pins on the M3E connector and is not available on M3. M3E connectors are backward compatible with legacy M3 transmitters, and M3 connectors can be used with Mini Mobile Module EVO transmitters, so mixed fleets of legacy and EVO hardware can share cabling during a phased upgrade.
