MicroRidge Interface Cable — Mahr Federal Maxum

The G-FED-MAX is a MicroRidge-designed and manufactured interface cable that connects the Mahr Federal Maxum to the GageWay Pro series for automated SPC data collection. MicroRidge developed this cable to bridge the Maxum’s 6-pin output port to the GageWay Pro’s configurable input — enabling wired SPC data collection from a gage family that does not output standard Mitutoyo Digimatic format.

This is not a standalone product, and it is not compatible with all GageWay interfaces. The G-FED-MAX outputs in Federal’s proprietary data format, which is only supported by the GageWay Pro series. It is not compatible with the GageWay SM, GageWay KW, or MobileCollect Digital Remote. A GageWay Pro interface is required to pass data to any SPC software or collection application.

Compatible With the Mahr Federal Maxum

The G-FED-MAX is designed specifically for the Mahr Federal Maxum digital indicator, which uses a 6-pin SPC output connector and outputs in Federal’s proprietary data format.

Not sure if your gage is the Maxum? Contact us at sales@microridge.com or check your gage’s documentation before ordering. If you have a µMaxum or µMaxum II, see the µMaxum cable and 4346021 cable respectively — those are different instruments with different connectors and output formats.

Use with GageWay Wired Interfaces

The G-FED-MAX is compatible exclusively with the GageWay Pro series. The GageWay Pro’s configurable input ports support the Federal proprietary output format from the Maxum — connect the G-FED-MAX to a Pro input port, connect the interface to your PC via USB, configure the port in the GageWay Pro Setup Software, and the gage is online.

GageWay Pro2, Pro4, Pro8 — Multi-channel interfaces supporting 2, 4, or 8 gages simultaneously via a single USB connection. Both USB keyboard wedge and USB serial outputs are built in. The Pro series includes configurable read switch ports, data parsing, TIR measurement modes, and AutoBaud detection for RS-232 devices. Best fit for fixed inspection stations, multi-gage measurement cells, and control plan implementations under ISO 9001, IATF 16949, or AS9100D where measurement traceability and process integration requirements are defined.

Note: The G-FED-MAX is not compatible with the GageWay SM or GageWay KW single-gage interfaces. Those interfaces support Mitutoyo Digimatic format only. The Federal proprietary output of this cable requires a GageWay Pro.

The G-FED-MAX is available in 6-foot length only. If you need a custom length, contact us at sales@microridge.com.

Mahr Federal Maxum vs. Maxum E-2, µMaxum, and µMaxum II

MicroRidge makes interface cables for multiple Mahr Federal digital indicator families — but they use different connectors, output formats, and compatible interfaces. They are not interchangeable:

The Maxum (this cable, G-FED-MAX) uses a 6-pin connector and outputs in Federal proprietary format — compatible with GageWay Pro only.

The Maxum E-2 (G-FEDMAXE2) uses a 10-pin connector and outputs in Federal proprietary format — also compatible with GageWay Pro only.

The µMaxum (G-FED-MCRO) uses a 7-pin male connector and outputs in Mitutoyo Digimatic compatible format — compatible with all GageWay interfaces and the Digital Remote.

The µMaxum II uses a 4-pin female connector and outputs in Mitutoyo Digimatic compatible format — compatible with all GageWay interfaces and the Digital Remote.

Verify your specific instrument model before ordering — connector type, pin count, and output format all differ across these families.
